Having appointed a new Group Productivity & Efficiency Director in 2020, Pets at Home had instigated a change program to uplift procurement capability and to quickly impact cost and sustainability targets. One particular area of focus for Pets and its customers was waste; a significant cost line and a clear environmental impact.
Our focused approach
Proxima deployed its category experts to map current needs and challenge thinking about how the service could be delivered. Savings were unlocked by moving from an in-house solution to an externalised expert solution, improving service performance. The team also sought to embed ambitious and significantly increased recycling levels into the service model.
Improved business outcomes
Proxima achieved year one savings of 25% whilst simultaneously improving sustainability credentials. Procurement has proved that it can be a partner to the business that can listen to needs, improve outcomes and impact objectives beyond savings.
