Proxima's Guy Strafford Appointed to Board of CIPS

28th November, 2011
LONDON, UK - 28 November 2011. Proxima, Europe’s leading procurement outsourcing specialist, is pleased to announce that Guy Strafford, Chief Client Officer, has been appointed to the Board of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS).

Guy, currently a Fellow of CIPS, has been at buyingTeam since 1996 and is responsible for key client relationships and business development across the company and advises a number of clients on strategic procurement issues.

His role at CIPS includes a number of strategic and advisory responsibilities and will work with fellow board members to inform current thinking on procurement issues and identify means by which the purchasing and supply community can play a larger role in enhancing value within British companies amid ongoing market turbulence.

Guy will become an ex officio member of the CIPS Council and a trustee of CIPS the registered charity. The primary role of the CIPS Council is to establish and develop CIPS’ corporate strategy, and to ensure that this aligns with the organisation’s objectives. Trustees have specific responsibilities to ensure that the organisation is being properly managed, that its assets are protected and used for the proper purpose.

Commenting on his appointment, Guy Strafford, said:

“CIPS has a long and esteemed track record in supporting and advocating the interests of the purchasing and supply management community and I am looking forward to playing my part in furthering that reputation. We find ourselves at a time in the economic cycle when procurement professionals have the opportunity to add tangible value to clients and their own businesses and we will continue to identify ways of furthering the part that they can play.”

[David Noble], CIPS, CEO added:

“It is important for CIPS to be able to draw upon the experience and expertise of our colleagues and members in the profession so that we can maintain real-time insight into the issues and challenges that they face. This insight is invaluable in enabling us to represent their needs within the wider business arena and provide a platform from which the case for procurement can be further advanced. Guy brings with him fantastic experience gained from more than 15 years with one of Britain’s leading procurement specialists and we look forward very much to working with him on the board.”
